Reflecting at the End of the Course
My story as an artist begins the first day of class. I was incredibly hopeful about taking art principles here at Beaver, what with the attic studio and the work displayed around the school. It was actually the reason I decided to go here in the first place. Once it began though, I was disappointed by the way we just did simple understanding of the basic principles and concepts. However, as the year progressed, I started to enjoy this class a lot. I absolutely love to draw and was very excited when started drop-everything-and-draw's and when we got into projects when we could plan out more what we wanted, including material and design. In the end, this was much better the art classes I had in public school where everything was by the book and you had to follow the example nearly exactly. I can see what I learned how to do in this class in my life very easily. For me, any activity where we got to use charcoal was very fun and something I enjoyed doing, which makes me want to get it for me to be able to do in my home. I will definitely be coming upstairs during third term to work on more projects like the ones we did towards the end of the term. I'm very glad I took this class instead of study hall like Mr. Manning recommended me to do.
